The Long Road to Perfection

The reason for this post is more than just because of my passion for food and cultural exploration, but it is really more about life itself and how sometimes when simple elements are combined with hard work and love,  they can create something that transcends, leading us to a better place.

There are few ways to show the magnificence of a cuisine in such a deep detail and passion, as in the movie Jiro Dreams of Sushi.  Now I am not an expert about movies, but I can say with no ego that this humble production really is a window into a world of  excellence. We are taken on this journey through the eyes of a special person who believes in always improving himself on a never ending road to perfection, in which the saying “Ultimate simplicity leads to purity”  falls nothing short of a true statement when talking about a master like Jiro Ono.

If you haven’t watched it yet, here is the trailer;  I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did.

  1. Wonderful, finding meaning of life thru sushi. His preparation is so spiritual, I like how he keeps striving for perfection, knowing full well it never ends! That’s so Zen. Transcendence, is the hallmark of a master.

    • Thank you for the comment Madeline . Indeed I think the same about Jiro’s way of life and the thing got stock in my head the most is the perfection he finds in simplicity
